Video: a very active Shah Rukh Khan turns 43 in style

Before he did this video interview here Shahrukh Khan had already he says had the night before had a private night time birthday party that didn't end until 7 in the morning, during which time he took a break to wave over the barbed wire atop the immense gate of his house Mannat to the large crowd of fans gathered outside.

That he had partied all night long didn’t show on SRK at all the next day. SRK headed to the Turf Club in Mumbai for the opening of a Cartier showroom and vintage cars. Khan was all smiles despite having slept for just a couple of hours.

SRK returned home to find thousands of fans waiting outside his home. The actor got into his compound and headed straight to the walls of his home to wave out to the public who were waiting for a glimpse from King Khan. After the fans it was time for the media who had collected at Mannat for an interview with the birthday boy. Yash Raj Films had released the first visuals of SRK’s much awaited Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and SRK was at his marketing best.

After dealing with the media it was time to spend a few moments with a fan of his and he met with dozens and cut many cakes. After all that he had this interview with NDTV shown below!

NDTV news story and interview with Shah Rukh Khan on the day after his birthday.

High-voltage action at Temptation Reloaded

There are two sorts of shows – one that’s entertaining and you want to talk about it for a few days. And then there’s the other kind - the kind that clogs your memory cells and just sits there for a very long time .

Shah Rukh Khan’s devilishly entertaining ‘Temptation Reloaded’ live concert at Dubai Festival City Arena fell in the second category.

Bristling with high-voltage action and power-packed performances by Bollywood A-listers it was an event Dubai folks are unlikely to forget in a hurry. The Saturday evening concert was truly special. Not just for the audience but for the King of Thrill himself too.

October 25 was Khan’s seventeenth wedding anniversary and he celebrated it with wife Gauri by cutting a massive multi-tier cake in front of the 20,000 capacity crowd, triggering mass hysteria in the stands.

Secretly planned by Gauri the onstage celebration caught Khan off guard. But only momentarily. The actor found his bearings quickly. Far too quickly, one thought. Yet insinuations that the whole thing was set-up by Khan were brushed aside by actor Arjun Rampal, who went on to swear on his children that Shah Rukh had no clue of the surprise intervention.

The audience took Rampal’s words on ‘torso’ value because that’s what they got to see of him for most part of the show.

“It feels great to celebrate my wedding anniversary with people who have given me so much love,” said Shah Rukh.

Dubai was the last leg of the Temptation Reloaded world tour. And pretty soon it became obvious that Khan had saved his best for the last.

Making dramatic stage entries, first on a crane and then in a hot air balloon - the affable actor had the audience in his fists.

The roller coaster ride of fun and entertainment included performances on songs from his blockbusters like Don, Om Shanti Om, Kal Ho Na Ho, and Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and an interactive session with the audience.

Khan called several of them on stage and taught them how to dance and be romantic with their partners before showering them with gifts, which, among other goodies included signed autobiographies and a jacket emblazoned with Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard, his new iconic property venture in Ras Al Khaimah.

Bollywood hotties Katrina Kaif and size zero Kareena Kapoor too gave some sizzling performances on chartbusters from movies like Singh is Kingg , Tashan and Jab We Met. As did pop star Hard Kaur, choreographer Ganesh Hegde and Arjun Rampal, who appeared to have come to Dubai with the single-minded objective of showing off his six pack abs.

The finale round saw SRK along with all the artists perform on stage with foot tapping songs like Bachnaa Yeh Hasino, Dance with me baby, Dont talk to stranger, Mauja Mauja, Dekho Dekho Yeh Shaam Mastani, and concluded with the title song of Om Shanthi Om. Sharukh Khan has proved to the audience that he is indeed an ace performer with his mix music, songs, dances and acting abilities all rolled into one big showcase. He proved that he is indeed a thorough entertainer in the "Temptation Reloaded 2008" show. His fans would look forward to many more events like these in future.

THREE VIDEOS OF Shah Rukh Khan,Aishwayna Rai, Abhishek & Amitabh Bachchan speak at the Oct 1 2008 premiere of Drona

http://www.apakistannews.com/is-the-...war-over-83706
Abhishek Bachchan ambitious project Drona premiered to a star studded evening yesterday but while other stars were in the expected guest list, Shahrukh Khan’s presence did come in as a surprise. It was after a long time that SRK was making a public appearance; that too for a Bachchan Premiere. Shah Rukh Khan,Gauri & their children attend October 1st 2008 premiere

The SRK-Bachchan supposed cold-war over bollywood’s top spot was much publicised, but SRK look to end the rumour mills, once and for all.

“There is no clash, you guys keep hyping up the things…there is nothing like that…we have always been friends,” said SRK, who show up with his family for the Drona premiere.

(If you click on this image you can see it very large)

While this puts those wagging tongues claiming a SRK-Bachchan cold war to rest, Shahrukh had one more score to settle - this time the man in question being the other Khan - Salman Khan.

“I don’t talk much about the ambuses and tiffs because; it sends a wrong signal to the children who watch us. So, I don’t talk about these issue, let those who want to talk, talk,” said a cheeky SRK on the infamous Salman-SRK spat on Katrina Kaif’s birthday.

However, SRK was in no mood to rake up the past on the occassion, when he was looking to mend way and patch relationships.

‘Drona’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra is the first co-production under the Eros Pictures banner and other stars were equally excited about the big-budget film which portrays Abhishek as a super hero.

Shahrukh Khan interview I do a silly job, but I love doing it

This is from this UAE newspaper and is the last big interview Shahrukh Khan has given. See link right below for orginal posting location

I do a silly job, but I love doing it

Catching up with Shah Rukh Khan as he nurses a back injury
by Ramachandran Srinivasan

Shah Rukh Khan's hurt his back again and as he sat at home, he spoke at length about his health problem, and his life and times in general.

Excerpts…You have hurt your back again?Yes, I am not doing too well. I am currently bed ridden as you can see. I forget I am 43 and I tried to do a fight scene and got hurt very badly. I hurt my back and my neck. The doctor is coming every two hours to check my state and monitor me closely.

You are still going on and on… aren't you scared of a burnout?I truly believe that even after so many years I feel like every film is my first and last film. I feel that if this doesn't work out then I won't get another film to work on. So I do it with that desperation, that intensity and that passion. I want to die doing a film. I think I should not be working so hard. But then I have been made to do something which has been written in my destiny and hence I continue working. A lot of my friends tell me, 'We've been telling you for the past 15 years that you'll burn out.' But I feel I will not burn out because I am still very excited to wear make-up. In my life I feel that picture abhi baki hai mere dost. I have not completed the most beautiful film of my life yet and I hope the last shot I give is the best.

You try and give a message through your films… like picture abhi baki hai mere dost…Whenever I produce movies, I always try to give a message. When I was in college I used to play cricket and football and wanted to represent India in the national team. When I injured my back it seemed like the end of my career. For two years I was depressed but that was the reason why I joined the film industry. Once I joined the film industry my life changed for the better. Whatever I am today is only because of what happened then. Like a few years ago both of us - you and me, were young. You wrote something negative about me and I got very angry with you. We fought as you printed something about me because maybe you didn't like me and after which I didn't like you. But now you're making a documentary on me and I feel you must have seen something good in me. In the end we're sitting together after 10 years since that happened. Hence "picture abhi baki hai mere dost". You haven't been giving time to a lot of your friends who are now angry with you? There are those who think that I only work and there are some friends who feel that I don't get the time to meet them. I do 2-3 films and it takes 200 days. I also do around 15 endorsements with an average of 3 days per endorsement, which takes up 50 days. I also manage to do some 20-25 live shows - whether it's the Filmfare awards or the rehearsals, which take about 40 days. I also spend two months on my television shows and their promotions. I take about 1 and ½ months break from work to spend with my kids. So I run short of 70 days in a year and hence I have to work a lot more. In the end, I don't get to meet a lot of people. There are a lot of friends, a lot of people whom I can't give time.

How has your journey been from Deewana to Dard-e-Disco? Actually to tell you the truth, when I think about my journey from theatre to television to where I am today it doesn't seem so long. I was watching ‘Chak De’ right now and it just doesn't feel like it's been two years since we shot the film in Australia. Sometimes the children also pull out old DVDs and tell me 'look at how you used to look before'! Recently I was watching ‘Yes Boss’ because my son felt that I can't do somersaults in the air. So I showed the film to him to because I had done a somersault in it. In the film I had somersaulted into the car like Jackie Chan does in his films. So I showed him that I could do it when I was young. But when I was watching the film it didn't feel like it was a long time ago, it felt like it happened just yesterday or the day before. A few days ago when Juhi (Chawla) had come over with her kids I was just telling her that it doesn't feel like it's been such a long time since we did this film together. I wanted to ask her also if she feels like that. What is the feeling after so many years of work?I'll be a 43-year-old man in few months and I still wear make-up in the morning, so how silly is that? I do a silly job, but well, that's the job I love doing. I adore it.

Do your children like your films? My son's favourite film is ‘Baadshah’. When he watches it he tells me that 'the special effects are really bad, Papa'. So now I have to make a Baadshah that my son will like. You have also acted in remakes of films like Devdas and Don… Trying to prove a point? When I did ‘Devdas’, I wanted to say something to the people but everyone had a different take on it. Some said it was ostentatious while some said I was copying Dilip Kumar, etc. The film belonged to another generation but as an actor it's my duty to bring it to the notice of the people of today. They must know that ‘Devdas’ was a great film. See my ‘Don’ and know what a great actor Amitabh Bachchan was.

A writer has alleged that you lifted his story idea to make Om Shanti Om. Comment.Farah Khan narrated the script of ‘Om Shanti Om’ many years ago when I was shooting for Mani Rathnam's ‘Dil Se’. I did not do the film then. Farah and I then worked on the script of ‘Happy New Year’ with Amitabh Bachchan. But Amitji fell ill and was hospitalised and we knew that film could not be made because Amitji had a lot of scenes in the film. I told Farah to bring over the script of ‘Om Shanti Om’ that she had narrated to me earlier and said that we can make it. So there was no way how we could have taken the script from anyone else as the said person has claimed.Even the Manoj Kumar issue became big and you had to erase a few scenes.Manojji is a veteran film person and we respect everyone from the industry. We will do what he wants as long as it makes him happy. There was no intention to hurt him in the first place.

India Today article about SRK performing at Bhutan cornation

I don't unusually post anything but photos here but this is such an exciting news storey from the very reliable magazine India Today I wanted to post it too. From http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&&issueid=72&id=15682&sectionid=3&Itemid=1&page=in&latn=2

Bhutan goes Bollywood
Delhi, September 19, 2008

The coronation of Bhutan's new King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk next month will feature a surprisingly varied cast from India. Led by chief guest President Pratibha Patil, a power-packed delegation to the coronation comprising not merely top political honchos but also Shah Rukh Khan will travel to Thimpu. The Indian delegation will manage a double act of cementing ties with Bhutan and entertaining the new king.

WangchukThe crowning of Wangchuk, 29, who is world's youngest king, will be a special affair with lots of colour and fanfare. While UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is a special invitee, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is also expected to be there along with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Despite the pageantry and the presence of political heavyweights, the show stealer may well turn out to be a performance by Khan and Bollywood's newest heart-throb Katrina Kaif at Thimpu's new soccer stadium. The king is an avid movie watcher and the performance has been planned at his royal request.
Bhutan is the only country in the world that measures its prosperity by what is known as the gross national happiness. In March, the tiny country of 7,00,000, which acts as a strategic buffer for India, took a giant leap to voluntary democracy, a rare feat for a country ruled by a monarch. The present king's father Jigme Singye Wangchuck spearheaded the change.
The Bhutan Peace and Prosperity Party led by Jigme Y. Thinley swept the polls by a landslide margin. While the king is the head of state, the Parliament holds the right to remove him by a two-thirds majority. Also, a retirement age of 60 has been fixed for the monarch, something a not-so-young prince in London has been waiting for long.
